US Stocks Pare Losses as Tech Rebounds

US stocks pared losses on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 steady and the Nasdaq in positive territory as tech rebounded. However, the Dow Jones lagged, seeing a 0.4% decline. Nvidia outperformed, surging over 3% to reach a new record high, and Amazon and Alphabet also saw gains of more than 1.5%. Traders continue to adjust their bets for rate cuts while awaiting crucial economic data due later in the week including the CPI and the kick-off of the earnings season. Meanwhile, the NFIB survey showed sentiment among small business owners improved in December but remained pessimistic while the trade deficit came below forecasts as both exports and imports fell 1.9% in November.
